As
noted in the April IS` letter, Oldcastle SW Group, Inc. dba United Companies (Operator) is
requesting a Technical Revision for the Rozman Pit to include a change in the permit boundary.
The owner of the pit wishes to donate a portion of the permitted land to a conservation easement.
The existing pit area was recently resurveyed as part of John Rozman's desire to donate the land
to a conservation easement. The permitted area based on this updated survey is 230.8 acres.
Exhibit C shows this area within the bold line. United Companies is requesting that Tract 1 (see
attached map) be removed from the mining permit. Tract I(dark green area shown on Exhibit C)
is undisturbed land and contains 146.8 acres. We had initially requested Tract 2 (forest green
area on Exhibit C) be removed but due to time copstraints, decided not to include this area at this
time. Subtracting Tract 1 from the mining permit area will result in 84 acres comprising the
Rozman Pit.
Oaerational Chances
The concrete batch plant presently located west of the river in the "Main Area to be Reclaimed"
(Gray area in Exhibit C) will be moved to the yellow area (Exhibit C) east of the Slate River.
This will allow reclamation to begin this year on this area (Gray area on Exhibit C). In addition,
CDOT has requested that the access road from Highway 135 be relocated for safety reasons.
Therefore, the road will be relocated as shown in brown on Exhibit C. The new road will
reconnect with the existing road just east of the bridge and then a new road will be constructed as
shown by the narrow orange strip in Exhibit C. The existing entrance off of Highway 135 will
