Hydrologic Balance
Pond 7 remains full and the outlet gate was found closed. The operator is evaluating the need
and potential future use of flocculent to assist in settling sediment in Pond 7. Pond 001, the
mine dewatering pond, was dry and the pond liner had not been completed at the time of the
inspection. Containments along the RDA conveyor were dry. Water levels in Pond S remain
low and Pond 4 was observed dry. Culverts C47 and C20 were cleaned in the area east of the
coal silos. Drainage in this area will be changed slightly with the recent approval of TR-55,
Bates Portals. A culvert installed at the Jansen coal loadout under the rail line was buried at
the inlet (yellow arrow) since it could defeat the approved sediment control plan of ditches and
non-discharging sumps (photo below).
i 1 n
j y
s.a.
Support Facilities
Work continues as approved at the main mine site and at the Jansen coal loadout.
