In that memo
Mr. Waldron outlined requirements operators must meet to comply with these regulations. One of
the options Mr. Waldron outlined was to backfill pits exposing groundwater to a depth of two feet
above the static ground water level.
Holcim's reclamation plan includes this option. For your convenience I am attaching a copy of the
backfill plan Holcim submitted and was approved by the division in our mining permit. We have
been operating under this plan since the permit was amended in 2003. This plan reduces any
long term impacts mining may have in the area and complies with option one as outlined in Mr.
Waldron's memorandum.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at (719) 784-1209.
Sincerely,
ieamanna
Quarry Manager
Holcim (US) Portland Plant
Cc: Justin Andrews, Environmental Manager, Potland Plant
RECEIVED
APR 4 9 r
q0 Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
