Specifically, the Division
proposed that, by April 30, 2011; sand and gravel operators contact the Division to
explain their plans for complying with the Division's bonding requirements related to
alluvial ground water depletions due to mining.
Currently, RMCC has five (5)'approved DRMS construction. aggregates permits all
of which are in compliance with the Divisions bonding requirements related to alluvial
ground water depletions from sand and gravel mining. The status of each of the five
permits is described below.
l . Bromley Lakes (DRMS Permit No. M-1987-049)
The current Bromley Lakes financial warranty totals $4,1.68,740.00 and includes
the cost of slurry walls and backfilling (see the Division's Reclamation Cost
Summary enclosed) in order to prevent any alluvial ground water depletions
associated with the site post reclamation.
During mining, ground water depletions are augmented through a site specific -----
Substitute Water Supply. Plan approved by the State Engineers Office.
2. Eggers Pond (DRMS Permit No. M-1998-036)
Prior to the start of mining at Ergers Pond RMCC installed a slurry wall around
the perimeter of the area to be mined. In 2006 RMCC began monitoring the
slurry wall per the State Engineers Office (SEO) requirements for sealed gravel
pits. The monitoring program demonstrated that Ergers Pond met the SEO's
criteria for a sealed pit (see enclosed SEO letter dated March 27, 2007). Dry
mining began at Ergers Pond in 2008 and will be completed by 2012.
Wetlands Banking
Environmental Management
Land Use Planning
Reclamation Design
Permitting & Zoning
