Weld Countv Public Works Procosed Gravel Site — Ashbauah Pit Exoansion
Dear Sir or Madam
This is notice that the Weld County Public Works Department intents to apply for a mining
permit to expand our existing Ashbaugh Pit located 7 miles southwest of Raymer in Weld
County Colorado. The application proposes a total mining area of approximately 380 acres,
however, typical County operations utilize 20 acres at a time due to our intermittent mining and
stockpiling of sand and gravel. The Ashbaugh site is located in the southwest quarter of Section
15, T7N, R59W, of the 6' P.M, Weld County, Colorado. The Ashbaugh property is currently un-
irrigated rangeland and is used to pasture cattle. The gravel pit will be dry, not intercepting
groundwater. There are no watercourses in the proposed mining area. Enclosed is a
sitelvicinity map.
Upon receipt of State and local permits, the proposed site will begin operations in Summer,
2011. The operations will consist of removing, crushing, and stockpiling sand and gravel
materials for use on Weld County- maintained roads. The operation will be intermittent
depending on needs of the County.
If you have any questions, please call (970) 304 -6496.
Sincerely,
David Bauer
Weld County Engineer
Enclosure
pc: Ashbaugh Gravel Pit file
M ZAVE 13 4shbaughtDRMS permitV shbaugh- Historical- IetDOC
