Primarily, site 5BL809, the Lyons Sandstone Quarry, was recommended
as eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1981. Related sites 5BL1086, the
Cherry Red Sandstone Company Stone Quarries and 5BL10290, the Beech Hill Quarry site have been
recorded but not assessed for NRHP eligibility. We recommend that the Division of Reclamation,
Mining, and Safety consider contacting the Boulder County Historic Preservation Advisory Board or
the Town of Lyons Historic Designation Commission to discuss the options for avoiding or
minimizing impacts to these sites or to determine whether additional inventory should be conducted to
determine the effect of the proposed project on these resources. Contact information for these groups
can be found at:
htt //www histoUcolorado o ff/sites/default/files/files/OAHP/crforms edumat/12dfs/1568.ndf
Should human remains be discovered during mining activities the requirements under State law CRS
24-80 part 13 apply and must be followed.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.- If we may be of further assistance, please contact Shina - "
duVall, Section 106 Compliance Manage ar (303) 866-4674 or spina duvalI chs.state.co.us.
Sincerely,
r r
Edward C.
