A
permanent fueling station is planned for an area near the portal as specified on 2.05.3-MIA Mine
Facilities Map. One 8,000 gallon and one 12,000 gallon double-walled diesel tank would be temporarily
placed adjacent and southeast of the Maintenance Shop. Once construction activities are complete the
permanent fueling station would be built and the tanks would be moved to the new location.
The use of explosives is expected as part of the portal excavation. SCCC would store ammonium nitrate
(as a crystalline solid) for explosives use in an additional tank located adjacent to the Wadge Pond as
specified on the revised 2.05.3-MIA Mine Facilities Map.
This submittal includes the following:
• Transmittal letter • Text revisions • Revised Maps
• Application Form • Summary of revisions
Installation of the three proposed tanks would result in no ground disturbing activities resulting and zero
increase in bond. The use and location of the proposed tanks is temporary with all three being removed
once portal construction activities are complete sometime in the fall of 2011.
We would appreciate your consideration and cooperation in facilitating timely review and approval of this
submittal. Once you have had opportunity to review this submittal package, please feel free to contact me
at 970-276-7003 with any questions or comments.
Best regard ,
.
