Their proposal requires the construction of a drill pad to be located
on the west side and immediately adjacent to Routt County Road 27, and south of their existing 18-Left Shaft
Site. Drill holes would be bored from this pad location through which concrete could be pumped to their
underground facilities. Additionally Peabody Coal has provided a timetable and suggested reclamation plan for
this operation.
The Twentymile Park area is home to both Columbian sharp-tailed grouse and Greater sage grouse. However the
proposed pad site is directly adjacent to RCR 27 which is heavily traveled and only a short distance from the
existing 18 Left Shaft Site. As a result we do not believe there will be any significant impacts to local grouse
populations as a result of the proposed activity. Peabody Coal Company has worked extensively with the
Colorado Division of Wildlife in regard to reclaiming grouse habitat and our only request is that any reclamation
done subsequent to this project be done with grouse in mind.
;ere ,
James M.
