Wheel scrapers and track dozers or other rubber tired or
tracked equipment will be used to handle topsoil and overburden
material. The overburden material will require blasting. A track
mounted drill hole rig will be used to drill the blast holes. The
required blasting agent will be delivered to the mine as needed
from a local vendor. The applicant anticipates the use of Anfo
detonated with electric blasting.
The equipment expected to be utilized for the mining
operation is as follows:
- Two each wheel tractor scrapers, Caterpillar 637
- Three each track type tractors, 2-D10, 1-D8
- One each wheel loader, Caterpillar 988
One each
One each
One each
Two each
Two each
Two each
4000 gallon highway style water truck
motor grader, Caterpillar 14
track drill, Ingersoll Rand 6100
service trucks
pick-ups
coal haul trucks, contract
• The sizes and equipment makes indicated above are for
reference only and will not necessarily represent the equipment
actually used for the operation.
The topsoil from the initial disturbance area in Mining
Area No. 1 will be stripped and placed in a stockpile along the
north line of Section 33. The topsoil stockpile adjacent to Mining
Area No. 2 may also be used to store some of the topsoil from the
initial disturbance in Mining Area No. 1. The overburden from the
first pit in Mining Area No. 1 and Mining Area No. 2 will be placed
off the coal in a temporary spoil pile. After the removal of all
of the recoverable coal from the first pit, the overburden and
other spoil material from the advancing pit will be backfilled into
the first pit. Backfilled material will be handled by scrapers or
other rubber tired or tracked equipment, and will be compacted and
stabilized as it is handled. Any necessary grading will be done by
dozers with the finish work done by motor graders or pull type
scrapers. Topsoil excavated from subsequent pits will be placed on
backfilled and regraded pits to accomplish contemporaneous
reclamation.
• 2.05-2 May 1992
