RE. JD-8 Mine, Permit No. M-1984-014, Denial of Extension Request for submittal of an Environmental
Protection Plan (EPP)
Dear Mr. Williams,
On April 5, 2011, the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division) received Cotter
Corporation's (Cotter) request for extension of the deadline for submittal of an Environmental
Protection Plan(EPP) for the JD-8 Mine, Permit No. M-1984-014. Cotter's request has been denied for
the following reason.
On October 21, 2010, the Division mailed Cotter notice that an EPP must be submitted pursuant to the
timeline established in Rule 7.2.3(2)(b) within 180 days of the October 21, 2010 notice letter, which is
April 19, 2011. Cotter did not, within 30 days, request a period longer than 180 days to submit the EPP
as required under Rule 7.2.3(2)(c). Therefore, the request to extend the EPP submittal deadline is
denied.
