MINING PLAN
1. General Mining Plan
EXHIBIT D
The access to the site will be directly from HWY 141. An access road will be constructed either
within the permit area or immediately adjacent to and depending on CDOT's evaluation connect
HWY 141 to the facilities area. See Map C-2 for the extents of mining.
Table D-1 Mining Area Material Table
Mi ring Area Acreage Gravel tans
Mining Area 1 18.60 524 24,648
Mining Area 2 11.75 288,152
Mining Area 3 34.51 312,063
Minin Area 4 28.28 169,596
Mining Area 5 27.78 375,134
Win Area 6 4.28 109,581
Total 125.20 1,779,173
The material volumes described in Table D-1 are approximate but are based on test pits that were
dug on site. Note that the areas above only include mining areas. The anticipated total disturbed
area for the operation consists of 125.77 acres. The additional disturbance comes from the access
road (0.57 acres).
There is little to no topsoil on this site. The lack of topsoil will present a challenge during
reclamation. When topsoil is encountered, it will be stripped prior to mining each year.
Overburden will be removed at the same time as the topsoil but will be handled separately.
Topsoil and overburden will be stockpiled or directly replaced depending on the portion of the
area being mined. Details of the overburden and topsoil handling are shown in Table D-2 and
also in Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan. Gravel will be directly loaded into the crusher by a loader
or will be hauled to crusher from the mining face in a truck. A dozer may be used at the mining
face to loosen the gravel for the loader. Stockpiles of crushed rock will be placed in Mining Area
1. These crushed product stockpiles will allow mining to cease for portions of the year and allow
for sales through out the year.
Craig Ranch Pit, March 2011 D-1
