water for the operation. Water is pumped either directly to the plant, to water tanks
located on higher ground south of the preparation plant, or to pond #1 for storage.
Water is piped from the storage tanks to the preparation plant and buildings at the site.
The slurry disposal system will deposit coal waste slurry to the abandoned
underground workings, and a well located north of the prep plant will recover water
from the slurry for reuse in the prep plant.
In the process of reclamation at the West Portal, the fan at the West Portal air shaft
was removed. This facility will be reinstalled for use as a bleeder fan ventilating the
West Mains area. As the projected life of this facility is unknown, it is planned to
power this installation with a diesel/electric generator or portable substation. The fan
site has not been reclaimed and will not result in an increase in mine disturbance area.
(3) Mine Facilities
(a).(b).Structures
The existing structures are shown on Map 11 East Portal Sheets 1 through 3 and
Map 12 Surface Facilities and Roads West Portal. Major facilities are listed on
Table 19 Surface Facilities List. Exhibit 28 Bond Calculations contains a detailed
description of all facilities and respective construction types. In general, structures
are built of structural steel, sheet metal, brick and mortar with concrete foundations.
is As shown on Map 15, the majority of these facilities and structures are built on
natural ground with coal stockpiles, refuse disposal and materials storage located on
pre -law fill areas. Other than the RDA and the sediment control system (ponds and
ditches), all land disturbances at the site were pre -law.
All West Portal buildi listed on Table 19 Surface Facilities List, have been

buried at approved locations on -site. As shown on Map 16, most of the facilities are

geotechnical analysis was completed for the proposed foundations. The report is

The rope slope will funct as ventilation intake for the construction of entries to the
East Portal Shaft. The belt slope will be temporarily equippe wi two metal ex aust
