r
CM0001629
EAGLE RIVER VALLEY RECLAMATION
SCOPING DOCUMENT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents an evaluation of reclamation measures applicable for the Eagle River Valley
(ERV), located adjacent to the Climax Mine, Colorado. The purpose of this report is to provide
Cyprus Climax Metals Company (Climax) with a "road map" to meeting its reclamation
objectives for the valley. These objectives include:
• Removing mining impacts from the valley;
• Developing fresh water storage within the valley using the Eagle Park Reservoir
and, optionally, Robinson Lake; and
• Adopting a proactive stance to reduce the environmental liabilities of Climax in
the ERV.
Each reclamation measure for the ERV was evaluated as a stand-alone "module." This approach
was adopted to provide Climax with flexibility in choosing the reclamation measures for the ERV
that suite its corporate goals.
Cost and time estimates also are presented for each reclamation measure. The cost estimates can
be used by Climax to assess the cost-benefit ratio of reclamation.

° _ _?-= Environmental
