CM0001663
3. 4-Dam Seeo Retum Modification
This item was discussed above under Dam Modifications. This project was
approved as a modification to an existing Environmental Protection Facility for
routing of 4-Dam seep waters into Robinson Reservoir. thus, eliminating the current
routing into Eagle Park Reservoir.
4. Stormwater management
Stormwater management at Climax exists as an active program under permit from
the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment.
a Water Conveyance
Water diversion structures were constructed in locations on the Upper North
Intercept and Chalk Mountain Intercept for flow control of intercepted water into the
reservoir. Lower North Interceptor control will be maintained via an existing culvert
at the ponds on the east end of the intercept. Future removal of the interceptors is
likely.
a Reclamation
Reconfiguration occurred within the basin and around the perimeter of the entire
pond during excavation of the tailing material. Some additional revegetation and
road obliteration work may be required around the project perimeter and along the
project haul roads. Specifics of the reclamation activities are provided in the 1996
Annual Reclamation Report submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology on
March 4, 1997.
Topsoil capture following tailing removal proved to be a significant benefit of this
project. A total of 56,400 cubic yards of topsoil were removed and stockpiled or
spread in late October of 1996.
a Water Quality
This report addresses the preliminary sampling of reservoir materials in preparation
for filling during the 1997 spring runoff.
