• Since critical t = 0.854 (one-tailed, alpha = 0.2, 29 df) and t,, is greater than this critical value, the
"reverse null hypothesis" is rejected and reclamation success for Phase II is demonstrated.
SPECIES DIVERSITY
The species diversity determinations are based on the approved diversity evaluation procedures
contained in Exhibit 2.05.4-E1 of the CDRMS Sage Creek Mine permit. See Appendix 5 for
further details in calculation of the results discussed below.
With regard to Test A, a determination of PASS was made because the species with the greatest
relative cover (Thinopyrum intermedium) had 29.98 percent relative cover (far less than the 60
percent limit).
With regard to Test B,
Probability-adjusted Reference Area Species Density = 25.34
Phase II Bond Release Block Species Density = 23.37 +/- 1.12
Since the bond release block number does not exceed the standard, a determination of FAIL is
• made.
With regard to Test C, the similarity of the species density by life form of the Phase II bond
release block to that of the weighted reference area mean was 0.86, exceeding the standard of
0.63 and indicating a PASS for this test.
With regard to Test D, the weighted average species density of native species per 100 sq.m. is
28.7. The cumulative number of native species in the nine 100 sq.m. samples of the Phase II
bond release block (that constitute a minimally adequate sample) is 35, exceeding 28.7 and
indicating a PASS on this test. Within the 30 samples taken in total in the bond release block, the
total number of native species encountered was 56.
Hence three out of the four tests of species diversity were passed, and thus as per provisions of
the permit, an overall PASS of species diversity requirements is indicated.
0 14
