Permit Amendment (AM-06) - Climax Mine
CM0000664
• Climax Molybdenum Company
Permit M-1977-493
Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
•
Presented in this exhibit is documentation regarding the calculation of the costs of reclamation for the
Climax Mine site. A series of tables are included to provide the necessary detail to present the
reclamation requirements and associated direct costs, organized by the primary areas of the site requiring
reclamation. For most of these areas two costs are presented, as presented on the summary table, one
titled '2011 - remaining' and the other 'AM-06'. The 2011 costs represent the costs associated with
reclamation under current site conditions, and the AM-06 costs represent the costs associate with
reclaiming the site at the completion of the operations contemplated under the current amendment AM-
06. All costs, including labor and equipment unit rates, are based on the most current reference
information and cost indices available as of December 31, 2010. Details of the labor and equipment unit
cost information, including cost indices used to escalate the latest available cost information, are
presented on separate sheets, following the summary table.
Each detailed cost sheet, presented for each primary area, provides a list of assumptions and the major
tasks associated with the reclamation of the specific area, and material quanitities, production rates, and
unit cost information is provided in the tables.
The reclamation costs presented herein do not include costs associated with reclamation activities
previously completed at the site. As discussed in Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan, a significant amount of
reclamation work has been conducted in areas of the site no longer needed to support production
operations. The following list presents a summary of reclamation and closure-related projects performed
at the Climax Mine, primarily over the last 20 years.
Reclamation Project Summary Description
1-Dam Cover Placed cover and growth media removed from Robinson Lake
bottom
3-Dam Cover Placed cover material and revegetated tailing dam area
5-Dam Cover Placed cover material and revegetated tailing dam area
East Side Channel Construction Constructed upper basin flood routing structure along east
side of Robinson Tailing Pond
Robinson TSF Reclamation Combination wet and dry cover, utilizing overburden and
biosolids for cover material, seeding and tree planting
West Gravity Line Closure Plugged the former decant line from Robinson Tailing Pond to
Robinson Lake.
Storke Complex Demolition and Facility demolition, area regarding, biosolids placement,
Reclamation seeding and tree planting
Arkansas River Channel Reclamation Reconstructed channel through the south end of the Storke
Yard
Miscellaneous Underground Mine Closed historic features within affected land bounds and
