CM0000558 <br />Page 2. . <br />`Section 3: HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION (Cont.) <br />3.1 POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS <br />EYE: Causes irritation, burns, tissue destruction, possible permanent damage to the cornea. <br />SKIN CONTACT: Severe irritant. Can cause inflammation, redness, swelling, burns. <br />INGESTION: Ingestion will result in severe burning and corrosion of mouth, throat and the <br />gastrointestinal tract. If the ingested material contacts stomach acid, highly toxic hydrogen sulfide gas will <br />be evolved. <br />INHALATION: Inhalation not likely. Mists may cause upper respiratory tract irritation, lung irritation. <br />CHRONIC EFFECTS/CARCINOGENICITY: Not listed as a carcinogen by NTP, [ARC or OSHA.. <br />Section 4: FIRST. AID MEASURES <br />4.1 EYES: Immediately flush with large quantities of water for 15 minutes. Hold eyelids apart during <br />irrigation to insure thorough flushing of the entire area of the eye. Obtain immediate medical <br />attention. <br />4.2 SKIN: Immediately flush with large quantities of soap and water, for at least 5 minutes. Remove <br />contaminated clothing under a safety shower. Obtain medical attention if any irritation occurs. <br />4.3 INGESTION: If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-3 glasses of water to drink and do not induce <br />vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention. Do not leave victim unattended. To prevent aspiration <br />of swallowed product, lay victim on side with head lower than waist. Vomiting may occur <br />spontaneously. If vomiting occurs and the victim is conscious, give water to further dilute the <br />chemical. <br />4.4 INHALATION: Remove victim from contaminated atmosphere., If breathing is labored, administer <br />oxygen. If breathing has ceased, clear airway and start mouth to mouth resuscitation. If heart has <br />stopped beating, external heart massage should be applied. Obtain medical attention. <br />NOTES TO PHYSICIAN: All treatment should be based on observed signs and symptoms of distress in <br />the patient. Consideration should be given to the possibility that overexposure to materials other than this <br />product may have occurred. <br />Section 5: FIRE, FIGHTING MEASURES <br />5.1 FLAMMABLE PROPERTIES <br />FLASH POINT: Not applicable. <br />5.2 EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical, foam, dry sand or as appropriate for <br />combustibles involved in fire. 0
