CM0000415 <br />• <br />NOTICE OF FILING APPLICATION FOR COLORADO MINED LAND <br />RECLAMATION PERMIT AMENDMENT (AM-06) FOR REGULAR (112d) <br />DESIGNATED MINING OPERATION <br />Notice to the County Board of County Commissioners <br />Lake County <br />The Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine (Climax) (Highway 91, Fremont Pass, <br />Climax Colorado, 80429) will submit an application to the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board (the "Board") for an amendment (AM-06) to its current Mining and <br />Reclamation Permit (M-1977-493) for its site located on and about Fremont Pass within <br />Lake County, Eagle County and Summit County. The enclosed information is being <br />provided to notify you of the location and nature of the proposed adjustments included in <br />the action. The entire application will be on file with the Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety and with the Summit, Lake, and Eagle County Clerk and Recorder at <br />the time of its submittal. <br />Consistent with the previous amendment, AM-05, the Climax Mine is an active operation <br />and CMC has been conducting planning and permitting activities to enable the Climax <br />Mine to operate in response to demand for molybdenum concentrate by its chemical <br />application customers, along with continuing reclamation activities. <br />Climax plans to resume production at the existing open pit, process molybdenum ore <br />within updated and improved mineral processing facilities, and continue to manage and <br />protect public health and the environment. <br />The purpose of this amendment is to provide updated information, based on the current <br />status of planning and engineering activities, to ensure the permit documentation contains <br />all required and relevant information needed to attain continued exceptional performance <br />in reclamation of non-essential facilities and assure compliance during ongoing <br />maintenance, pending construction and future production operations. <br />This amendment represents an increase in the acreage of affected land from the current <br />4,638.8 acres to 7854 acres. In addition, Exhibits specified in Rule 6.4 have been <br />updated as necessary to reflect current conditions and planned operations. These Exhibits <br />include, but are not limited to, an updated/amended Mining Plan, Reclamation Plan, and <br />Environmental Protection Plan based on the current development plans for the mine. <br />0
