March 31, 2011
TttAPPER KtMN& INC.
Mr. Rob Zuber, PE
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Zuber:
RE: Semi-annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report - March 2011
RECEIVED
APR 0 4 2011
Division or ixeclama n,
Ahin!ng nrd Su:f l
Trapper began submitting semi-annual monitoring reports to the Division, beginning in March 2008 with the
last report sent on September 30, 2010. Trapper has been monitoring the 2006 landslide area for movement
through the use of a continuous monitoring system, described in the last report.
This report contains the following information:
In your letter acknowledging receipt of the September 2010 report (dated December 6, 2010), you requested
information concerning depth of installation for sensors at Station 5. Inclinometers were placed at the LL, the
K, and the R seams. Piezometers were placed at the LL and M seams.
Section 3.3.3 of Trapper's permit details the initial configuration of the monitoring system; this report updates
the configuration of the monitoring system. Since September's report, Station 3 has been removed due to the
normal advance of mining operations. Station 6 will be established with a borehole and installed sensors this
summer. The location and installation details will be included in the September 2011 report.
Inclinometer graphs for Stations 2 through 5, covering the period October 15, 2010 through March 30, 2011
(with the exception of Station 3, ending March 8, 2011), are attached. Movement is measured in inches of
displacement and represents rotation of inclinometer casing. Beginning values can be seen at the October 15th
point on the graphs. There has been no significant movement in the inclinometers during the monitoring
period.
Piezometer reading graphs for each site are also attached, and cover the same time period as the inclinometers
above.
Stations 2 and 4 currently have GPS monitoring stations. Displacement histories for these sites, and for site 3,
for the period of October 1, 2010 through March 29, 2011 are attached.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
eth A. uls, PE
Engineering Department Coordinator
c FVL
P.O.
