The three roosts on the west end of i southwest panel, which show a stair -step contl, uration, may be driven to aid
in drainage from the area. The microstructure of this area will dictate if these rooms are required to allow drainage
of water away from the working area.
• The three rooms on the west end of 2 southwest panel may be driven to provide a storage area for the cuttings that
will be generated during the drilling of the ventilation borehole. If this storage area is not required, then ihe.se
additional rooms will not be driven.
A bleeder will be driven on the west end of 3 southwest panel and a ventilation borehole will be drilled into this
entry as shown on Map 23A. it is anticipated that a pilot hole will be drilled from the surface to the mine, then a
raisebore rig will be used to complete the boring. The details of the ventilation borehole are presented in a
following section.
The extension of the 2 and 3 southwest panels will allow for an additional 300 feet of lon coal to be produced
from the mine. This is very beneficial in that this coal will be recovered as opposed to being left in place and,
quite likely, never being mined.
Exhibit 7F, Prediction of Southwestern District Foidel Creek Mine, was prepared by SubTerra, Inc. to predict
potential subsidence impacts to the area to be undermined and subsided by the extension of the 2 and 3 southwest
panels. The report demonstrates there will be no impact to Fish Creek or its alluvial valley floor. This feature is
the primary renewable resource that could be impacted by the panel extensions.
As shown on Map 23A, Twentymile is proposing subsidence monitoring line 5000 to verify that the angle of draw
does not project into the Fish Creek alluvial valley floor. The monuments are labeled 5001 through 5006 on the
map. A further discussion of the subsidence monitoring plan is presented in a later section.
Twentymile Coal Company is requesting approval to drive the I SW gateroads approximately 700 feet to the west,
and start mining the bleeder entries for I SW longwall panel. The locations of the gateroad, bleeder, and drainage
rooms are shown on Figure 16 -A I, SW Mining District - Gateroads, Bleeder, and Drainage Rooms.
9 Right Gateroads
Twentymile Coal Company is requesting approval to drive the 9 Right Gateroads (3) approximately 5,500 feet to
the northeast. The locations of the gateroads are shown on Figure 16B, 9 Right Gateroad Extensions. The 9 Right
Gateroads will be driven through a BLM right -of -way which Cyprus is securing. It is anticipated the right -of -way
will be issued during the first week of May 1995.
Driving of the gateroads will not result in any additional surface disturbance. The gateroads are driven by a
continuous miner, with each gateroad bay approximately 20 feet wide and 9 feet high. The coal [Wined from the
gateroads will be processed through Twentymile's existing surface / tipple facility. Water used for dust
suppression encountered during mining will be discharged through Twentymile's existing facilities (either site 115
or 109). The indicated permit boundary has been squared up to make it easier to describe. however, the actual
minim, will occur within an area of less than W acres.
9 & 10 Right Gateroads
Twentymile Coal Company is requesting approval to drive the 9 Right Gateroads (3) approximately 7,000
additional feet to the northeast. The 10 Right Gateroads (3) will be driven approximatcly 14.000 feet to the
11
MR 97 -154 2.05 -4 Rrvi;cd ii'1SM7
