Climax Molybdenum
A Freeport-McMoRan Company
March 31, 2011
Mr. Tim Haynes
Climax Molybdenum Company, Henderson Mill
19302 Grand County Road 3
Parshall, CO 80468
Henderson Operations
PO Box 68
Empire, CO 80438
303-569-3221 Tel
303-569-2830 Fax
Re: Certification for Henderson Mill Process Water Supply Pipeline Replacement
Dear Tim:
The Henderson Mill replaced an approximate 1,600 lineal feet of the Mill Process Water Supply
Pipeline which transfers process water from East Branch Pump House to the Mill Process Water Supply
Tanks. The original 36 inch diameter ASTM-A 134 steel pipeline was replaced with a 36 inch diameter,
SDR 11 HDPE pipeline. Henderson engineering and sub-consultants completed the design and
installation of the pipeline.
The purpose of this letter is to state that the new pipeline was constructed in general conformance with
the design plans and specifications. Along with visual inspections, each HDPE joint was fused together
using a data logger to ensure the proper manufacturer fusion specifications were met. Since isolation of
the new line was impractical, an initial service leak test was performed per the Plastic Pipe Institute
(PPI) testing procedures. No leaks were found in any of the pipe joints or connection locations. There
were several modification made during the installation of the pipeline, however, these modifications did
not change the purpose or intent of the original design. Modifications made during installation are
reflected on the as-built drawings.
Sincerely,
Dillon Benbow
Sr. Mechanical/Civil Engineer
Henderson Operations
