2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES - MINIMUM <br />REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS. <br />(2) Operation Description <br />(a) Surface Mining <br />Not Applicable. <br />(b) Underground Mining <br />Mining ceased at the Bowie No. 1 Mine on December 4, 1997. The area which has <br />been mined and the sequence of same is shown on Map 2 -5. There are no plans to <br />reinitiate coal production at the Bowie No. 1 Mine since the east and west mines have <br />been reclaimed. <br />For the anticipated sequence of reclamation, refer to Section 2.05.4. <br />In 2010, as part of PR -4, Bowie No. 1 will transfer 2,379 acres from their permit boundary <br />to the Bowie No. 2 mine. In addition, Bowie No. 1 agrees that a portion of three Federal <br />Coal Leases will be transferred to the Bowie No.2 Mine. This additional permit area and <br />the Federal Coal Leases will be incorporated into the Bowie No. 2 permit, and will <br />encompass some of the old workings developed from the Bowie No. 1 mine. The Bowie <br />No. 2 Mine has agreed to assume any and all of the liability associated with the old <br />workings that are encompassed by the Bowie No. 2 Mine permit boundary.
