• 2.05.3
do not meet the requirements of an Access Road, to revise the existing roads would be a major
disturbance to surface areas. it would increase erosion and sediment and disrupt mine operations.
The road is gavel surfaced.
Drainage for this road is an integral part of the overall drainage plan for the mine facilities. The
drainage plan is designed for the 100-year, 24-hour storm. For detailed description of drainage,
see Section 2.05.6(3) -Reclamation Plan - Protection of Hydrologic Balance and Map 8-1.
The applicant will maintain and repair the road as necessary by blading, ditching, removal of
rocks, culvert cleaning, replacement of surface and restoration of road prism. The cut and fill
slopes have been vegetated in accordance with Section 2.05.4 -Reclamation Plan: General
Requirements. The road, after cessation of mining operations, will be left in place [o access
grazing azeas as stated in Section 2.05.5 - Postmining Land Use. The road is watered periodically
to control dust in accordance with Air Pollution Control Plan, Section 2.05.6(1).
Access is provided to the reclaimed waste disposal area and Pond Nos. 1 and 2 on a road shown on
Maps 8-1 and 8A-12. The road is an existing structure with an overall gradient of approximately
2.8%. It is used for access to soil storage areas and the reclaimed waste disposal azea, and
maintenance of sedimentation Pond Nos. 1 and 2. The west ridge waste disposal area is accessed
• by a graveled road shown on Map 8A-2. Access to Pond Nos. 3 and 4 is on an existing BLM road
and a road segment constructed from the BLM road to the pond construction sites. See Map 8-1
or 8A-2.
The road was designed and constructed for overall convenience, safety, and erosion and sediment
control. It is located considering local topography. Drainage is controlled utilizing surface ditches
in the waste disposal azea. See Section 2.05.3(3)(b) -Existing Structures, for discussion of the
Waste Disposal Area.
The road is maintained, re-vegetated, and restored the same as for all the mine roads.
The road loop at the storage and load-out area is asphalt paved. This road is an existing structure.
Trucks unload at the truck dump and circle a loop for the return trip to the crushing and screening
facilities. The road is constructed as shown on Map 8-3 and Figure 2.0~-3.
There are hvo entrances to the loadout azea. They are the scale and truck dump entrance. During
2000 the truck dump entrance will be closed and all incoming traffic will flow through the scale
entrance. The scale entrance was improved so trucks can bypass the scales to the south and east
and proceed to the truck dump without crossing the scales.
C~
_ 40 - 7/00
i 2-3 3
P PFFoVEO s~3o/o0
