6. The seed mix presented in the NOI is sufficient at this for this office to estimate the revegetation costs. It is
important that the operator provide to this office the actual seed mix that will be required by the USFS.
Please confirm.
It is acknowledged that the operator agrees to minimize overall disturbances, but has included a larger acreage figure
than what will actually be disturbed. The bond estimate will be calculated by this office, after the operator has
responded to all of these items. It is expected that the estimate will include these items: cut and fill earthwork
volumes proposed by the operator, recontouring pads, scarifying trails, removal of debris (sediment fence),
revegetation of 1.0 acre, and mobilizing a small dozer and backhoe loader from Creede.
The Division will calculate the appropriate bond amount after the technical issues above have been addressed. Please
provide complete responses to the items listed above, as this will help the Division prepare a good bond estimate.
The figures will be sent to the applicant soon after receiving adequate responses.
Thank you for forwarding copies of correspondence with the US Forest Service. We would appreciate continued
forwarding of such correspondence to the Division. Please be reminded that the prospecting plan filed with DRMS
must be in compliance with all federal regulations.
Please submit all response materials (text and/or maps) by providing two sets of hard copies. Electronic versions
may also be emailed if you wish, but hard copies are still required. These materials may be sent directly to me at the
Durango field office: 691 CR 233, Room A-2, Durango, CO 81301. These items must be received here within 60
days of the date of this letter or the NOI may be terminated (pursuant to Rule 5.1.3(c)).
I look forward to your responses. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
P.
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Severo Chavez, 9544 Hiker Hill Road, San Diego, CA 92129 (agent for the applicant)
Thomas Malecek, US Forest Service, 13308 West Hwy 160, Del Norte, CO 81132
Ec: Steve Shuey, DRMS, Grand Junction
(c:\11-03 docs\CME NOI adg2/rco)
