This Well Permit is
for the Duckels Construction, dba Yampa Aggregates, Hogue River Pit expansion, located west
of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, between US Highway 6 & 24, north of the Hogue River Pit and
the Yampa River, south of the Hogue River Pit. The Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety (DRMS) permit number is M-1992-066. The proposed Hogue River Pit expansion will
add approximately 11.7 acres to the operation and will increase the proposed pond to an
estimated 43.5 surface acres. This revision is requesting a post reclamation pond surface area
exposed to evaporation of 43.5 acres.
• Supplemental Information for the Revision to Well Permit No. 042066-F
Introduction:
Well Permit No 042066 was issued February 9, 1993 to Duckels Construction for the Gravel
Mining Operation known as the Hogue River Pit, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(DRMS) File No. M1992-066. Originally, it was approved for an exposed lake surface area of
25 acres. This revision request is to allow for an expansion of the lake surface area upon
completion of site reclamation of 43.5 acres. Attached are a vicinity map, the Mine Plan Map,
the Reclamation Plan Map, and adjacent well location map. (The amendment for the Hogue
River Pit is currently under review by the DRMS.)
The site is being dry mined and will be returned to a ground water pond with use by wildlife and
with surrounding home sites.
The Hogue River Pit is located in Sections 4 and 9, Township 6 North, Range 85 West, of the 6th
Principal Meridian, County of Routt, State of Colorado. A vicinity map is included.
This reach of the Yampa River is currently not fully appropriated and is considered a non-critical
area. The site, therefore, should not require a substitute water supply plan.
