• average by about 1 inch. With regard to temperature, cumulative January through June 2010
warmth was well below average, the fourth coldest recorded in the past 25 years (Figure 5).
Woody Plant Density Area Data
Average woody plant density values ranged from 0 stems per acre (Block C2) to 5220.5 stems
per acre (Block W), but on average the woody plant density values were below 90% of the current
shrub density standard (1800 stems per acre). The Woody Plant Density areas at the Seneca IIW
mine currently total -71 acres. A total of 10 of the woody plant density area blocks surpassed the
standard of 1800 stems per acre and account for 34.2 percent (-24 acres) of all Woody Plant
Density areas. A total of 18 of the woody plant density area blocks are well on their way to
meeting the standard - surpassing 1000 stems per acre and accounting for 64.7 percent (--46
acres) of all Woody Plant Density areas. However, the remaining blocks average only 352 stems
per acre. No data were collected at Woody Plant Density Block I in 2010. This block was removed
from the Woody Plant Density areas after 2006 sampling due to lack of shrubs.
Between 2008 and 2010, Woody Plant Density averaged a 77 percent increase versus an
• average increase in Woody Plant Density of 98 percent 2006/2007 to 2010. These increases
were mostly in the form of big sagebrush and mountain snowberry (Symphoricarpos
rotundifolius).

3
