t, _ (45.17 - 42.97) / (15.87 / sqrt 35) = 0.820
Since critical t = 1.306 (one-tailed alpha = 0.1, 34 df) and the absolute value of tc is less than this
critical value, reclamation success for Phase II is demonstrated.
SPECIES DIVERSITY
The species diversity determinations are based on the approved diversity evaluation procedures
contained in Tab 22 "Revegetation Plan" of the CDRMS Yoast Mine permit. See Appendix 5 for
further details in calculation of the results discussed below.
With regard to Test A, a determination of PASS was made because the species with the greatest
relative cover (Medicago sativa) had 27.6 percent relative cover (far less than the 60 percent
limit).
With regard to Test B,
Probability-adjusted Weighted Reference Area Species Density = 21.26
• Phase II Bond Release Block Species Density = 24.71 +/- 1.22
Since the bond release block number exceeds the standard, a determination of PASS is made.
With regard to Test C, the similarity of the species density by life form of the Phase .II bond
release block to that of the weighted reference area mean was 0.71, exceeding the standard of
0.675 and indicating a PASS for this test.
With regard to Test D, the weighted average species density of native species per 100 sq.m. is
26.4. The cumulative number of native species in the nine 100 sq.m. samples of the Phase II
bond release block (that statistically constitute an adequate sample) is 42, well-exceeding 26.3
and indicating a PASS on this test. Within the total 35 samples taken in the bond release block,
sixty native species were found.
Hence all four tests of species diversity were passed and over all the species diversity
requirements of the permit are met.
0
ESCO Assoc.
