PERMIT #: M-2011-001
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: March 22, 2011
Mrs. Johnson indicated during the inspection the final reclamation configuration of the pond may change to
accommodate the gas well pads operated by Noble Energy. The options for lining the pond were also
discussed during the inspection. The substitute water and final augmentation plans for the pond are being
provided by the Iverson's as a condition of the mining lease. The Division did not receive comments from the
Office of the State Engineer during the comment period, but will address the potential water issues and
required permits at the site during the adequacy review process. The groundwater monitoring wells were
observed during the inspection. Groundwater monitoring data has been collected since 2009 to establish
baseline groundwater data.
All man-made structures and utilities appear to have been identified by the Applicant in the permit
application. The Division is concerned about the proposed mining offset to the Cache la Poudre River (100')
and the lack of inflow/outflow structures in the mining plan. The Division will address these issues in the
adequacy review letter. Pre-operation inspection photographs are attached below.
Inspection Contact Address
Mrs. Anne Johnson
Lafarge West, Inc.
11409 Business Park Circle, Suite 2000
Longmont, CO 80504
Cc: Tony Waldron; Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
Page 3 of 5
