Connell Resources Timnath Pit
Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan
Revision Date: June 25, 2009
Section 16.0 Facility Drainage [112.8(b)]
Page 16-1
Section 16.0 Facility Drainage [112.8(b)]
Areas of the facility with reasonable potential for oil spills (i.e., oil is used in the area) include
the following:
• Vehicle dispensers/pump islands
• Bulk loading and unloading area
• Secondary containment area with ASTs
• Emergency generator diesel fuel AST
16.1 Diked Area Drainage [112.8(b)(1)]
Diked storage areas along with the corresponding drainage methods at the Facility are
identified in Appendix B.
16.2 Diked Area Drainage Valves [112.8(b)(2)]
The drainage systems used on the secondary containment systems are positive
displacement type, not flapper valves.
After visual observation for contamination, facility personnel use valves to drain precipitation
from within the secondary containment systems to the adjacent ground. If the drained
precipitation doesn't evaporate or infiltrate into the soil, it will flow generally south to a
stormwater conveyence system that discharges to a detention pond located at the Facility.
After visual observation for contamination, facility personnel use pumps and hoses to drain
precipitation from withing the detention pond. The drainage from. the detention pond flows
south in drainage ditches located on the Facility. Appendix C contains the specific form and
standard operating procedure for inspecting, draining and documenting rainwater
accumulations in secondary containment areas.
16.3 Undiked Area Drainage [112.8(b)(3)]
Table 16.3 identifies drainage systems from areas of the facility with a reasonable potential
for an oil spill (i.e., oil is stored or used in the area).
Table 16.3: Area Drainage
Building or Area Name Drainage Method
Sheet flow across the site to the
Fueling Dispensers detention pond
Diesel generator AST Fuel Sheet flow across the site to the
I unloading area detention pond
I14u11C - Ilu IIVVI UI PII I.
