-rand Junction
C O L O R A D O
PUBLIC WORKS
& PLANNING
March 17, 2011
Annual Report for the Riverside Parkway
111 Permit Number M-2007-005
The following report outlines the site operations conducted at this borrow site location during 2010.
Mining Operations:
No mining operations occurred during 2010. Mining of the borrow source was conducted from January to June
of 2007. This included excavation, loading, and hauling of on site materials. The borrow materials were placed
in the bridge abutment fills located at the 5th Street and the Riverside Parkway. Minor mining operations were
completed from June until September 2007. All mining operations have been completed at the site.
Reclamation Operations:
Grading of the site to its final contours was completed in 2008. Additionally, 3,079 cubic yards of class A organic
compost material was hauled to the site during 2008. During the summer of 2009 additional compost was
brought to the site, bringing the total to 6,000 cubic yards.
The major phase of the reclamation activity was completed during November of 2009 (refer to the attached
map). The compost was evenly spread across the site to a depth of 2 to 2 %2 inches. Then the compost was
incorporated into the top 4 inches of existing soil by means of tilling and disking, creating an even and loose
seedbed. Fertilizer with an 18-46-0 composition was applied at a rate of 250 pounds per acre, and additional
humate was applied at a rate of 800 pounds per acre. Both materials were applied to the entire site. Native
seeding was then planted by means of a seed drill, at the rate of 25 % pounds of live seed per acre. Following
this, weed free straw was blown and crimped into place at a rate of 2 tons per acre and additionally secured by
the application of a mulch tackifier at the rate of 200 pounds per acre.
Additional reclamation work was performed in 2010. Spot seeding and overseeding were performed in areas
where vegetation has not yet established itself. The area also received maintenance in the form of weed
spraying and removal of illegally dumped trash.
Storm water management operations:
The current storm water management measures are being maintained at the site. They will be maintained as
needed to comply with the storm water management permit requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (970) 244-1542, or Pauli@gicity.org.
Sincerely,
D.
