bM C-,
AC) 0 (Y\,- V?Iok Z- 066
RPM, Inc.
March 9 2011 RECEIVED
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety RECEIVOLMAR 1 4 2011
RAND JUNCTiUiV r6Eil7 OFFICE
Attn: Dustin Czapla DIVISION OF
101 South 3rd. Street, Suite 301 MAR 21 MiECLAMATION MINING & SAFETY
Grand Junction, CO 81501 Division Of R40101"at0n,
Minim & Safety
RE: Adequacy issues for the Hogue River Pit Permit Amendment, File No. M 1992-066
Dear Mr. Czapla:
This correspondence will address the two remaining adequacy issues:
"The gravel pit well permit 42066-f issued by the Division of Water Resources limits the
total exposed ground water surface area to 25 acres. Please submit documentation to this
office that the applicant has applied to expand the use of this well permit to include the
additional acreage that may be exposed by this operation. A new or revised permit must
be obtained prior to exposing more than the 25 acres covered by the existing well
0
permit."
• At your suggestion, we have included a revised seed mix for the areas reclaimed to
wetlands.
We would like to thank the DRMS for bringing the potential Well Permit issue to our attention.
Well Permit No. 042066-F was issued to Duckels Construction on February 9, 1993. The
"Conditions of Approval", item 5 states in part, "...the total surface area of the proposed ground
water pond limited to 25 acres."
We calculated the total surface area for the proposed ground water pond (What will be the
existing ground water pond and the proposed ground water pond expansion area.), the revised
surface area of the structure will be approximately 43.5 acres. The anticipated water elevation,
as shown on the Reclamation Plan Map, delineates the proposed edges or extent of the ground
water pond. The ground water pond area was calculated by dividing the proposed surface area
into 42 separate polygons. The area of each polygon was calculated and the total summed.
Based on this calculation and the amount of ground water pond surface area approved under
Well Permit No. 042066-F, Duckels Construction will need to submit a revised well permit
application to the Division of Water Resources (DWR). Duckels Construction commits to not
exposing more 25 surface acres to evaporative loss until an approved well permit is obtained
from the DWR. In addition, we will provide a copy of a revised well permit application filed
with the DWR to DRMS. Two revised and signed Reclamation Plan Maps, Exhibit F with the
ground water pond surface area are attached and acreage calculation spreadsheets are also
18 attached.

RPM.
