South Platte Combined Replacement Plan
March 21, 2011
The area exposed prior to 1981 at the Jeronimus Pit site is shown on the attached
map. The credits for the pre-1981 area are tied to the location identified on the map and may
no longer be re-allocated to other areas of ground water exposure within the gravel pit
permit boundary.
The mining site locations are specified in Table 2 below:
The required fee of $3598 (14 sites x $257/site renewal fee) has been submitted (receipt
no. 3648132).
Aggregate anticipates to actively mine three sites in 2011: Tull Pit, Hazeltine Pit, and
Brighton Pit. Depletions resulting from evaporation and mining operations at these sites are
replaced under this plan. Water use at the Tull Pit, Hazeltine Pit and Brighton Pit in 2011 will
include dewatering, evaporation from exposed groundwater, aggregate production, and dust
control. Dewatering is anticipated to begin at Tull Pit in May 2011 at an average rate of 1,100
gallons per minute. The exposed water surface is estimated at 2.0 acres in the dewatering trenches
and small ponds. The average dewatering rate is anticipated to remain at 900 gallons per minute at
the Hazeltine Pit in 2011. The exposed surface area at the Hazeltine Pit has been reassessed
based on the recent aerial photos at 5.6 acres. The dewatering at the Tull Pit and Hazeltine Pit will
result in a net accretion to the river and the dewatering at the Brighton Pit is assumed to offset the
post-pumping depletions from dewatering at the Platte Valley Pit. Continuous dewatering operation
at the Brighton Pit began in 2006 when dewatering operation at the Platte Valley Pit ceased. The
State Engineer's Office ("SEO") approved the liner at the south reservoir of the Brighton Pit on
August 19, 2010, therefore the exposed surface area has been reassessed at 25.3 acres.
Aggregate also has eight sites with exposed surface area that will not be mined in 2011:
Teti Pit, Wattenberg Pit, Platte Valley Pit, North Dahlia Pit, F-Street Pit, Jeronimus Pit, East 8t'
Street Pit, and Tucson Pit. Depletions resulting from evaporation and past pumping depletions at
these sites are replaced under this plan.
