Phase 1 work will include grading of the lower portion of the diversion channel
• to reduce the overall flow gradient and establish the permanent diversion
configuration, and installation of gabion mats or other appropriate channel
protection materials to minimize channel erosion and control flow velocities.
Phase 2 and 3 work, to be completed prior to final site reclamation, will involve
grading remaining upgradient portions of the Magpie Creek diversion channel
to establish the permanent diversion configuration and placement of erosion
control mats or similar materials along with selective revegetation.
Reclamation of the GEC mine area adjacent to the lower portion of Magpie
Creek diversion was completed in 1994 by the DMG/Inactive Miners Program.
This reclamation may impact the diversion in the section between the GEC
West Pit drainage channel and the GEC 8-foot road culvert. Under agreement
with DMG (letter dated 11 /28/951, EFCI will not be subject to enforcement
actions for impacts due to reclamation of the GEC Mine. Enforcement actions
will not be issued if it can be shown that the GEC reclamation is the sole
source of a compliance problem and EFCI has diligently pursued its
maintenance obligations.
•
C:\880\TR33
oare,ree oz:e,.m w, 2.05.3-49a flevised -January 1996
