Colowyo Coal Company <br />2010Annual Reclamation and Hydrology Report <br />• SECTION 2 - SURFACE AND GROUND WATER DATA <br />RULE REQUIREMENT <br />RULE 4.05.13(4)(c) Monitoring Report Requirements (surface and ground water) <br />Rule 4.05.13(4)(c) <br />(i) Water quality data for the four surface monitoring sites is presented in Exhibit 2A <br />of this report. <br />(ii) Water quality data obtained from the three surface and six ground water sites is <br />presented in Exhibit 2A and 2B of this report. Discharge monitoring reports are <br />submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on a <br />quarterly basis. A copy is forwarded to the CDRMS and is included in this report by <br />reference. <br />(iii) A written interpretation of the data is not required by the Division. <br />All analytical results from surface and ground water monitoring have been tabulated <br />• and are kept on file at Colowyo Coal Company L.P. Historical data is presented in <br />this AHR. The monitoring timeframe for this annual report is from January 1, 2010 <br />through December 31, 2010. A description of the surface and ground water <br />monitoring plan is located in Colowyo's CDRMS Permit, Volume 1, Section 4.05.13 <br />on page 4.05-10 of the permit. <br />GENERAL DISCUSSION <br />Surface Water Data - Surface water monitoring sites comprise two upstream and two <br />downstream sites and are briefly described below (See Exhibit 2C for location). <br />Surface water monitoring changed from monthly to quarterly in July of 2008, due to <br />the approval of PR-02: <br />• New Upper Good Springs Creek (NUGSC) - upstream site, located south of the <br />mine along Moffat County State Highway 13 and represented on the Surface & <br />Ground Water Sampling Sites Map located in Exhibit 2C. Monitoring has <br />occurred from 1992 to 2010. <br />• Lower Good Spring Creek (LGSC) - downstream site, located below active <br />• mining conditions along Moffat County State Highway 13 and represented on <br />Page 2-1
