Mining & Safety
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) welcomes the opportunity to comment on proposed actions such as
these. It is the responsibility of the CDOW to ensure that the wildlife resources of the State of Colorado are
addressed and protected for the enjoyment of the public. CDOW has reviewed the application file no. M-2010-
084 and offers the following comments:
• This application is to create a surface for livestock/wildlife water after the area is mined of usable topsoil
and fill material suitable for construction use. The pond will capture snow run-off and heavy storm water
events. This pond will be an added benefit to this area and is beneficial for wildlife.
All disturbed lands shall be reclaimed after mining activity has ceased. Seed mixes shall be of native
grasses, forbs and shrubs that are beneficial to wildlife. The CDOW does not oppose the approval of this
action.
If you have any further questions and/or comments, please feel free to contact Tom Knowles, District Wildlife
Manager, at (970)878-6077.
Thank you,
Bill deVergie
Area Wildlife Manager
Meeker Service Center
PO Box 1181
Meeker, Colorado 81641
Cc: Ron Velarde, NW Regional Manager
Dean Riggs, Assistant Regional Manger
Tom Knowles, District Wildlife Manager
Ed Winters, Land Use Specialist
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Mike King, Executive Director
WILDLIFE COMMISSION, Tim Glenn, Chair • Robert Streeter, Vice Chair • Mark Smith, Secretary
Members, David R.
