PERMIT #: M-2000-066
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE: March 16, 2011
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). Kenneth Morrison of Lincoln County was also present for the inspection. The Raymond Enderson Pit
is located approximately 12 miles north and 2 miles west of Arriba, Colorado. The site is permitted for 9.9
acres and the post-mining land use is rangeland.
Gen. Compliance With Mine Plan:
This pit is no longer being used by Lincoln County; the site was last mined in 2007. The Operator should be
aware that Construction Materials Rule 3.1.3 states reclamation shall be carried to completion by the
Operator with all reasonable diligence, and each phase of reclamation shall be completed within five years
from the date the Operator informs the Division that such phase has commenced.
Reclamation Success:
Mining at the Raymond Enderson Pit primarily took place within the channel of the Arickaree River. The river
channel has filled in with sediment with each successive precipitation event; there is no evidence of a pit
within the channel. The banks of the Arickaree River are stable and did not show any signs of erosion. The
load-out area north of the Arickaree River has been graded and seeded with the approved seed mix; the
majority of the revegetated area contains a healthy stand of blue grama. There are a few small areas outside
of the river channel that are bare or kochia infested. The Operated has indicated the kochia infested areas will
be treated with Trimec and seeded with the approved seed mix this spring. The Operator should ensure that
any herbicides used on the site have been approved for use near aquatic areas.
Signs and Markers:
Permit sign was posted at the site entrance in accordance with Rule 3.1.12.
This concluded the inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Kenneth Morrison
Lincoln County
103 3rd Ave.
Hugo, CO 80821
