Pineda <br />Planning Director Director <br />108 8th Street, Suite 201 <br />Glenwood Springs, CO 81601-3355 <br />Re: Coal Ridge No.1 Mine (Permit No. C-1984-065) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 6 (RN-6) <br />Dear Garfield County Planning Department: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 21, 2011, an application to renew an <br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine was considered complete for the <br />purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act <br />and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />C.B. Minerals Company, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on <br />land located approximately 7 miles West of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The permit area is further described as <br />follows: <br />T6S, R91W; Portions of Sections 1 and 12 <br />T6S, R90W; Portions of Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Storm King Mountain and <br />New Castle. <br />The CB Minerals Company, LLC has submitted Permit Renewal Application 06 (RN-06) for the Coal Ridge no. 1 <br />Mine east of New Castle, Colorado. The Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine is an underground mipe-that een rec a l-m-e-d7--- <br />and is in permanent cessation. All surface facilities have been demolished and removed, the site has been <br />backfilled and regraded, topsoil has been replaced and the site has been reseeded. This renewal application does <br />not include any proposed new mining or changes to the permit and no additional lands are being proposed for <br />inclusion into the permit boundary or disturbed boundary. Pursuant to Rule 2.08.5, the CB Minerals Company, <br />LLC has retained the right of successive renewal for the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine. The Division currently holds a <br />performance bond for the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine in the form of a certificate of deposit in the amount $43,200.00. <br />The Division will recalculate the reclamation liability for the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine to ensure that this amount is <br />sufficient to complete the remaiiiing reclamation. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Garfield County Commissioners, 109 8th <br />Street, Suite 200, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601-3355. <br />Office of Office of <br />Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
