COMMENTS
This was a complete inspection of the Yoast Mine conducted by Susan Burgmaier of the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety. Roy Karo of Seneca Coal Company was present for a portion of the site inspection,and
Dennis Jones of Seneca Coal Company was present during the records inspection. The mine was inspected in
conjunction with the Seneca IIW mine, alternating between the two sites with weather conditions and the
availability of mine personnel. Weather conditions were clear and sunny,but the site was still under
approximately 3' of snow. Many areas of the mine were inaccessible.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
Records were inspected at the mine business office. All required records were available; documentation is
attached.

Ponds 012,013, and 014 were inspected March 14, 2011, and Pond 011 was inspected March 15, 2011.
All of the ponds were covered with 34' of snow,and Ponds 012 and 013 were discharging clear water.
Embankments appeared to be stable. Pond 010 was inaccessible due to snow cover on Haul Road A.

None of the roads within the permit area had been plowed; all were under 3' of snow.
SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12:
The slope on the north side of Pond 012 (south facing)was bare. There are new scarps at the base of the
regraded slide area that will need to be monitored for additional instability. Rills were apparent on the regraded
