Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has completed its preliminary review of the SL-3 bond release application.
We have the following comments.
1. Please submit the map referred to on page 1 of the bond release application as
Carbon Junction Mine: Final Reclamation Phase I Bond Release Areas. It was
not included with the application.
2. Please submit a P.E.-certified as-built design for the reconstructed Carbon
Junction channel, including the two new culverts.
3. The equipment in the storage yard will need, to be removed before the land where
the equipment is located can be approved for Phase I bond release. Please advise
us of the schedule for removing the equipment.
4. Now that the North Pit has been backfilled and graded, it would be appropriate to
re-evaluate the designs for the planned lower sump and upper sump #2. Please
contact us so that we may discuss those designs.
After the preceding four items are resolved, the dollar amount eligible for bond release in
SL-3 can be established.
Sincerely,

Tom Kaldenbach
cc: Daniel I.
