2.04.7 Hydrology Description
The following table presents Hubbard Creek flow measurements at Hubbard
Creek above Iron Point Gulch. Data is obtained from the USGS gauging
station 09132940 for the period June 2004 through October 2009.
•
Hubbard Creek Flow (cfs) Upstream (D34 -14)
04
05
06
07
08
09
MIN
MAX
AVG
Jan
Feb
Mar
13
33.7
28
13.0
33.7
24.9
Apr
May
148
159
148.0
159.0
153.5
Jun
6.32
161
4.65
6.47
4.65
161.0
44.6
Jul
4.78
8.05
4.06
3.89
18.0
4.1
3.89
18.0
7.15
Aug
4.58
5.58
3.53
4.67
8.2
2.7
2.7
8.20
4.88
Sep
15.8
5.91
4.77
10.1
4.77
15.80
9.15
Oct
10.4
8.45
13.0
3.02
2.3
2.3
13.0
7.43
Nov
Dec
The Applicant diverts water from Hubbard Creek for agricultural and industrial
uses through the Deer Trail Ditch all year.
There are four well defined watersheds (gulches) that are tributary to
Hubbard Creek. They flow generally from west to east into Hubbard Creek.
They are characterized by steep to nearly vertical canyon walls. All four
gulches have well developed colluvial deposits within their streambeds.
From south to north the gulches are known as 1) Freeman Gulch; 2) Sheep
Corral Gulch; 3) Dove Gulch; and 4) Iron Point Gulch. Freeman Gulch is
typically dry with only one flow event noted in monitoring results from June
1995 through November 1997 and that was in June 1997 during a significant
precipitation event.
Lower Sheep Corral Gulch and Lower Dove Gulch are also expected to be
typically dry with flow occurring during spring snowmelt and after significant
precipitation events. Lower Dove Gulch has been dry during all monitoring
events from the late 1997 field reconnaissance through 2009. Small almost
insignificant flows (maximum 1 gpm_) have been recorded at Lower Sheep
Corral on seven occasions during the 1997 through 2009 monitoring
program.
•
PR -12
2.04-43- 02/10
/f Mo b6D
1111,6110
