PERMIT #: M-2011-006
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: March 10, 2011
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operational inspection for the Deterding Pit, a proposed Yuma County 112c sand and gravel
operation, conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS followed Yuma County Road and Bridge representatives
Howard McGinnis, and Kent Twiss to the site, and observed the site with them at approximately 1100.
The permit area encompasses an existing l l lc permit and the site entrance is located on the south side of Hwy
34 west of Wray CO. Yuma County is permitting 56.7 acres at this location. The notification of proposed
mining site sign was observed at the existing site entrance location, and the extent of the site was defined by
painted T-post markers.
The site is relatively level to rolling hilly ground and is currently rangeland. No man-made features were noted
within the proposed permit limits. Yuma County is proposing a 200' buffer zone around the perimeter of the
site as well to maintain sufficient distance to prevent possible impacts from mining activities. DRMS also
suggested that it would be a good idea to clearly mark the buffer zone for the intermittent drainage channel
inside the permit boundary when work commences so that the affected areas do not encroach into this buffer
area.
The entire site is currently rangeland. Grazing may to continue on areas of the site that are not being actively
mined. No other features or man-made structures of note were observed in the permit area during this
inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Howard McGinnis - Yuma County
Yuma County Road and Bridge
1310 South Blake Street
Wray, CO 80758
