The existing drainage control plan was slightly modified to control drainage from the expanded coal stockpile, as
shown on Map 24. The modifications included rerouting Ditch D -2 so that it carries runoff and mine water around
• the southern side of the coal stockpile area. The ditch, as shown on Map 24, drains into Pond D. Two culverts
were placed in the Ditch D -2 at the locations shown on Map 24. A new ditch, which has been labeled Ditch E -2,
was added to drain the water from the northern part of the stockpile into Pond E. This does not increase the
drainage area tributary to Pond E,' therefore, Pond E does not require resizing. Two culverts were placed in this
ditch to pass water under an access point into the stockpile and under the haulroad. Design information for the ditch
and culverts is contained in Exhibit 8.
Where a segment of Ditch D -4 crosses the south edge of the ROM /Low Quality Coal Stockpile area, a 22 -inch
polyethylene pipe had been installed to maintain ditch drainage through this area, and allow the coal stockpile to be
expanded, as needed. Problems with keeping this pipeline open and changes in stockpile management associated
with the new Washplant resulted in removal of the pipeline and reestablishment of the affected segment of Ditch D-
4. The reestablished ditch section was constructed consistent with the original ditch design. While it is TCC's
intent to retain and maintain this s, segment of Ditch D -4, we would like to reserve the option of replacing the
previously approved culvert installation (22 -inch polyethylene pipe) with 24 -inch or larger CMP culvert, if needed
to facilitate stockpile management and associated equipment operations. Design information for the ditch and
culverts is contained in Exhibit 8.
The ROM Coal Stockpile area will be reclaimed when no longer required for processing run of mine coal. Above -
grade structures will demolished and disposed of in the portal area, and the area will be regraded, topsoiled, and
revegetated with the appropriate seed mixture.
is
•
MR09 -238 2.05 -25 06/26/09
