to prevent erosion and to hold the soil. Silt fences will also be used on slopes greater than
15% and will remain in place until the vegetation is reestablished.
Sites 001, 002 and 003 on Silver Microcline have thin soil about 2 to 3 inches thick
composed largely of grus. Site 004 is extensively disturbed and the original soil is mixed
into the shallow digs. Areas not disturbed are also 2 to 3 inches thick and quite thin. Sites
005 through 009 on the Silver Microcline have thin, sandy-grus soils without vegetation
interspersed with areas of soil up to 3 inches thick. Soil at Site 010 on Hilltop is mixed in
with disturbed grus. Sites 011 through 013 on Hilltop claim have very thin soils maybe
reaching 2 inches thick. Some areas are disturbed grus and barren. Site 014 on the Hilltop
has a good soil profile about 4 inches thick. Site 015 also has a good soil up to 4 inches
where it is not disturbed. Site 016 on the Suzie Blue has thick soils with thin vegetation to
5 inches thick. This area also has a fairly well-established organic layer in places. Sites
017 through 022 on the Hilltop claim have spotty soils ranging to 4 inches thick. Some
areas were severely burned lending to small-eroded areas.
