Corey Heaps
McClane Canyon Mining, LLC
February 15, 2011 Page 7
C. Include contour cross section of proposed final reclamation in the canyon area.
d. Include the revegetation plan for the newly proposed disturbance in the canyon area.
29. The following questions pertain to Appendix U of PR -2.
a. Vegetation Sampling, Second paragraph, page 2 — Map 2.04.10 -1 is not in packet. If
the text is actually referring to Figure 4.5 -3 (Vegetation - Area South of Portal Haul
Road), please revise all references to this map throughout the document. Additionally,
reference is made to map 2.045.10 -1 on page 6. Please correct references and be sure
all maps are included.
b. Production, page 4 — The text states "As required by Rule 4.15.11 shrubs, subshrubs and
noxious weeds were not clipped since they cannot count toward the proposed
revegetation production..." Noxious weeds are not excluded in 4.15.11(b)(i) to not be
clipped/counted. Please reference the appropriate rule allowing the exclusion of
noxious weed in counting/clipping.
C. Shrub Density, First paragraph, page 4 — Tannsects in the reference areas are very close
together in Figure 4.5 -3 making it difficult to determine if there is too much overlap of
data. Please highlight the 23 transects in Figure 4.5 -3 that were used to determine Plant
Cover ( %) and Shrub Density (# per 100 m2) indicated in Table 2.04.10 -2.
d. Shrub density, Second paragraph, page 4 — Is Saltcedar and Tamarisk the same species
referred to in this statement about stem counts? Please use consistent terminology.
e. Statistical Analysis of Data, page 5, first paragraph — There is a mistaken reference.
The narrative says "As required in Section 4.15.10, a minimum of 15 cover transects
and 30 production transects are typically collected from each vegetation area sampled."
Section 4.15. 10 is Revegetation Success Criteria: Previously Mined Lands; Areas to be
Developed for Industrial or Residential Use. Please correct the reference in this section.
f. Statistical Analysis of Data, page 5, second paragraph — MCM states "a minimum of at
least 30 shrub density transects be sampled for each plant community." Please refer to
the rule that CAM is referencing.
g. Results, page 6, Vegetation sampling, second paragraph. — The definition used for major
vegetation types is incorrect. The definition for minor vegetation type is used. Please
reword using the definition for major vegetation types in the Division's 1988
Vegetation Guideline on page 3.
h. Results, Page 7, Field Sampling Dates - Table 2.04.10 -1, CAM - Colorado LLC -
McClane Canyon Mine — Refuse Pile Expansion — Plant Species List referenced on
page 18 is not labeled correctly according to the text in paragraph 1 on page 7.
