February 22, 2011
RE-CEI
MAR 0 7.2011
Division or Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Attention: Wally Erickson
691 C. R. 233, Ste. A-2
Durango, CO 81301
06iec-t,on 4a Cl?l-o! ?
MAY bar .rd a 4 o AAJA-1- COA A-Ig8c- t0,i?- --,
RECEIVED
MAR 0 1 2011
Durango Field Office
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
REGARDING: W1981-185: The following is our response to Wildcat Mining's permit
application during this public comment period. We regard Mayday as primarily a residential
area.
1. We disapprove of the increased amount of acreage Wildcat has requested. If the previous
application had been approved, it reflected a small mining operation. However, approximately
265 acres leads us to believe Wildcat Mining has a large and expansive operation in mind for the
next 10 years.
2. We have a copy of the La Plata County Land Use permit application, and object to the
proposed Hours of Operation (7 am to 10 pm).. We feel these hours will disturb residents who
appreciate the peace & quiet our neighborhood affords.
3. The permit requests 365 days a year. We responded to George Robinson stating that proposed
hours/days of operation were unsuitable & unacceptable for this/our community.
4. We do not welcome the noise that would occur during "night time activities" such as moving
heavy surface mine equipment.
5. Daily blasting is a concern and if this permit is approved, we ask no weekend blasting nor that
activity on holidays.
6. Re. exterior lighting - We do not want a lighted hillside which would cause a huge unsightly
disturbance along w/sight pollution.
7. The present "Primary Access Road" borders our northern land boundary. If this permit gets
approved, we ask that the USFS approve the existing USFS road ASAP.
Furthermore, George Robinson, Acting CEO of Wildcat Mining, is aware of our concerns
and has a written response from us similar to what you read above. We have told George "it is
imperative to us that your plans and activities be done honestly and with integrity."
Ruth and Jim Olson
4124 C.R. 124 or P.O.
