Bowles, Brock
From: Bowles, Brock
Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2011 12:44 PM
To: 'Bill deVergie (bill.devergie@state.co.us)'
Subject: Colowyo Mlne and Collom Area
Attachments: Colowyo TR-84 Meeting Notes - 28 September 2010.docx; 2011-01-24 ColowyoTR84-
BB.docx; Email to-CDOW-Re-Feb2010-letter.pcIf
Contacts: Bill deVergie
Hi Bill,
South Taylor Area (TR-84) - Here are the documents we talked about on the phone. At the moment I cannot find an
electronic copy of TR-84 which my comments are directed at. The meeting notes were taken by Jim Stark (CDRMS).
Also attached is the email from Jim Stark to Jon Wangnild asking for clarification of the Feb 1, 2010 letter.
Collom Expansion Area (1311-3) -You stated in your Feb 15, 2011 letter that you agree with the one seed mix. Because of
the diverse landscape and plant communities (wetlands, bottomlands, mountain shrub, sagebrush and grassland) I do
not feel this is adequate. Colowyo feels there is enough diversity in their seed mix to meet the rangeland/fish and
wildlife habitat post mine land use. I would like to see at least 3 seed mixes: uplands (<10% slope), steep slope and
bottomland mixtures. I would like your opinion of the use of one seed mix for the entire revegetation at Collom.
Thank you for helping to clarify these matters.
Brock Bowles
Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
303-866-3567 x-8142
