Draft: August 23, 20/0 Page f
DRAFT
DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
THE DEVELOPMENT WASTE DISPOSAL AREA,
NEW ELK MINE, WESTON, COLORADO
1.0 INTRODUCTION
During the week of June 7. 2010, Agapito Associates, Inc (AAI) personnel directed the
drilling of ten exploratory borings to obtain subsurface geotechnical information for design of
infrastructure at the New Elk Coal Company's (NECC) New Elk Mine. At that time samples of
the coal refuse and mine development waste were also obtained to determine their physical
properties. This report will only address the engineering aspects of the development waste
disposal area (DWDA) design.
Figure I shows the proposed location of the DWDA and the drill holes from the
exploration program.
O
DH-6
-

H °QT N
2
DH -4
 C
on 71 --
r Pohra
it
Figm c I.
