totaling November through March precipitation values, was 6.27 inches, <br />which was 0.91 inches (13%) below the 1971-2000 average, 7.18 inches. <br />Ground Water <br />Water Levels. Water level data are presented in Appendix B. Water level <br />reports for data collected since 2005 are presented immediately after <br />the water level hydrograph of all historic data for each respective <br />well. By presenting all historic data, trends related to seasonal and <br />annual variability and possible mining related impacts are more clearly <br />evident. Table 3 (Summary of Ground Water Monitoring Wells) is presented <br />as a reference for the reader. The old ground water monitoring program <br />is presented on pages 7-341/342 of the Seneca II PAP. The new program is <br />provided in the PR-02 package (Volume 14) on page 2.04.7-2. Water level <br />measurements obtained in non-flowing wells are taken with water level <br />indicator, or in the case of a few shallow alluvial wells, directly from <br />a steel tape. Pressure readings (in psi) obtained from flowing wells <br />with pressure gages are multiplied by 2.31 to obtain head in feet. For <br />the sake of brevity, the prefix that precedes all well names will be <br />dropped throughout this report (except in the case of nested wells with <br />a similar number). As an example, Well SCAL46 may be referred to as Well <br />46. <br />Ground Water Level Summary. This year, water levels at all wells fell <br />within their historic ranges, with the following exceptions. Alluvial <br />well 72 displayed its lowest water level in September 2010; however, <br />this well is new to SCC's monitoring program; only four measurements <br />have been made so far. <br />All alluvial wells are showing distinct seasonal water level <br />fluctuations in response to periods of precipitation recharge or the <br />lack of precipitation. Overburden and coal well water levels are <br />fluctuating in response to the precipitation recharge and ground water <br />flow from the reclaimed mine pits. <br /> <br />3
