Mr. Nathan J. Green
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
402 Rood Avenue, Room # 142
Grand Junction, CO 81501-2563
6 January 2011
Re: Request for Approval of the Wetland Boundaries on the Proposed Duckels
Construction - Hogue Gravel Pit Expansion Area.
Dear Nathan:
Enclosed is a copy of our wetland delineation report for the above-mentioned property. This is
the third wetland delineation we have prepared for this property, the first being in 1992, with the
second being completed in the fall of 2001 with the report being submitted on 5 December 2001
and which was approved in a letter from your office dated 10 January 2002 as COE action
number 200175431. Over the years this property has been formally inspected on various
occasions by Ms. Susan Bachini Nall, Mr. Randy Snyder of your office and you indicated in a
recent telephone conversation that you are also familiar with this site. Most of this property is
located in the West '/z of the NE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 9, 6 North, Range 84 West. As
directed by Ms. Nall during her inspection of the site on 1 October 2001, we have considered all
of the wetland areas which are located within the historic floodplain of the Yampa River as being
jurisdictional wetlands
To ensure that all of the information requirements contained in the recent directive from the
Corps of Engineers dated 30 November 2001 entitled "minimum Standards for Acceptance of
Preliminary Wetlands Delineations" haven been addressed we have restated every informational
concern found in that guidance document has been restated and our response to that issue follows
in the attached narrative.
We recognize that given the current snow cover on this site, it might be difficult for you to
conduct a field inspection of this site, but believe that given your extensive familiarity with the
property and fact that numerous detailed photographs are being submitted along with this
submittal from which you might be able to finalize this request for an approved wetland
determination without a site visit as you have done on numerous projects in the past. In the event
that you are unable to issue a letter approving this wetland delineation, we would request that you
hold on to this file as your office has long had the policy of conducting field inspections of
projects in the older in which the materials are received in your office and inspect this site as
early as possible in the spring.
If you have any comments or questions regarding this submittal, please do not hesitate to call me
in my office at 970-638-4462 or on my cell phone at 970-734-6203.
?Sincerely,
Kent A.
