DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Director/State Engineer
Response to Reclamation Permit Application Consideration
DATE: February 15, 2011
TO: David A. Bird, Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Division 1 Office, District 7 Water Commissioner RECF-PI M
FROM: loana Comaniciu, P.E. FEB 17 2011
RE: Ventures Resources, Inc., Robert Fulton Reclamation, File No. M-2011-007 Divisionoi r%vLe.omaborr,
Operator: Ventures Resources, Inc., Ryan J. McHale-303-619-6323 Mining and Safety
Contact: Ryan J. McHale-303-619-6323
Section 23, Twp. 3 South, Rng 73 West, 6th P.M., Gilpin County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
® The proposed operation does not anticipate exposing groundwater. Therefore, exposure of ground
water must not occur during or after mining operations.
® The proposed operation may have potential impact on existing water rights near the project location.
Applicant needs to demonstrate that the proposed project will not alter or impact the historic operation of
existing water rights.
® The applicant has indicated that any proposed use of water at the permit site will be obtained from the
municipal water supply of the City of Idaho Springs via a "Water Fill Station Usage Permit". The water
will be used for dust abatement measures on an "as-needed" basis approximately 100-200 gallons per
day. The applicant will need to document that the water was obtained from a legal source, or the water
was diverted in priority under a water right decreed for such industrial use. Applicant should contact the
water commissioner for further information.
COMMENTS: If stormwater runoff is intercepted by this operation and is not diverted or captured in priority, it
must be released to the stream system within 72 hours. This may require a discharge permit from CDPHE-
WQCD. Otherwise, the operator will need to make replacements for evaporation.
The applicant may contact the State Engineer's Office with any questions.
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 • Denver, CO 80203 • Phone: 303-866-3581 • Fax: 303-866-3589
http://water.state.co.us
